This is a drawing in my Moleskine using black and 30% warm grey Prismacolors. I like the richness of the black with Prismacolors and that they are more smudge resistant than graphite. The downside is that the softer lead does not hold a fine point for very long.
I’ve been thinking about putting together some little critters in a soft and cuddly form.
I’ve got to make notes of things that I want to do, ugh :c
I hate when people compare an artists age with their skill. I read about a girl who was 8 years old and painted masterpieces. Know why this was possible? She woke up early before school to practice. EVERY DAY. How many artists can say they do the same? Not many.
So really an artist who’s young but draws amazingly isn’t all that extraordinary.
What’s extraordinary is their DEDICATION. Let their dedication to practicing and improving inspire you do to the same. When you think like this you undermine that little girl. Why shouldn’t she be exceptional? Why should you think that YOU will reach the same level by practicing? Not everyone can do it. Not everyone has that gift, that extra piece to create something beautiful and loud. Certainly practice makes a difference in the life of an artist, and knowing what and ow to practice is helpful, but she has a talent. Why take that from her?

MOTHER OF GOD…
working on re-designing some old characters, not sure that I have anything planned for them just now. it just feels good to take another look at them, see how my style and ability has changed since their conception.
I’ve been working a lot in my new tiny sketchbook, just haven’t found the time to photograph it, it’s sort of a long process for such a shitty result.
Cartoon skeletons by Hyungkoo Lee. The characters are surprisingly easy to identify, but if you’re stumped you can click on the images.
